Shock Wave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic pressure waves to stimulate healing in damaged soft tissue. It’s widely used to treat chronic, stubborn injuries that haven’t responded to rest or standard treatment alone.
The therapy works by delivering high-energy sound waves directly to the affected area. This stimulates blood flow, breaks down calcified deposits and scar tissue, and triggers the body’s natural repair process — helping to reduce pain and restore function in tissue that has stopped healing on its own.
Shockwave is commonly used to treat conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis and golfer’s elbow, patellar tendinopathy, and other chronic tendon and soft tissue injuries.
At DCM Clinics, shockwave therapy isn’t used in isolation — it’s built into our wider Assess, Build, Re-test approach. Before and after treatment, we use objective assessment technology including VALD ForceDecks and ForceFrame to measure how the affected area is actually performing, so progress is tracked against real data rather than how the area simply feels.
DCM Clinics is led by Danny Mace M.Ost, a registered osteopath and former Head of Rehabilitation at the European School of Osteopathy, who lectures internationally on rehabilitation and performance.
Most patients feel some benefit within a few sessions, with a typical course involving multiple treatments spaced roughly a week apart for best results.
