Sometimes the most useful step in treatment is confirming exactly what’s going on beneath the surface. MSK (musculoskeletal) ultrasound imaging allows us to see soft tissue structures in real time — muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints — giving a clear picture of injury that can’t be found through examination alone.
Unlike X-ray, ultrasound shows soft tissue detail directly, making it particularly useful for identifying tendon tears and tendinopathy, muscle strains, ligament damage, joint effusion (fluid build-up), and other soft tissue injuries. Because it’s performed live during your appointment, we can also assess how a structure moves and behaves under load — not just a static image.
At DCM Clinics, ultrasound imaging is used to confirm diagnosis and guide treatment decisions with clarity, rather than relying on assumption. It fits directly into our Assess, Build, Re-test approach — helping us understand exactly what we’re treating from the outset, and, where needed, monitor how a healing structure is progressing over time.
Ultrasound imaging can be a standalone assessment or used alongside our objective force-based testing (VALD ForceDecks and ForceFrame) for a complete picture of both the structural and functional side of an injury.
